Who we are
The Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota (FACNM) is an abuse assessment center that offers comprehensive medical care and treatment and a coordinated victim-centered response to those who have been physically or sexually abused. Our team is made up of trained specialists who care.
Who we help
Our center serves many communities in Northern Minnesota. We offer three programs to support children, adolescents and adults.
-
The Children's Advocacy Center
The CAC conducts forensic evaluations with children, and their non-offending caregivers, who are alleged victims of crimes. Our team of specialized nurses, family advocates, and forensic interviewers makes sure that each child receives the full care that they deserve.
-
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program
The SANE Program offers 24/7 medical evaluations for children, adolescents and adults who have been sexually assaulted. We partner with Sanford Bemidji Medical Center to ensure that each patient receives immediate, compassionate medical care.
-
The Intimate Partner Violence Program
The IPV Program offers safe and confidential medical exams to any adult who’s been physically harmed by an intimate partner. We walk each patient through the process, ensuring that they have the all-in-one care that they deserve in a judgment-free environment.
Our Mission
It's our mission to provide compassionate and timely medical care, make the process less overwhelming, and teach our communities to be safe advocates for one another.
Serving the Dire Needs of Northern Minnesota
We’re proud to serve 17 counties and 3 Tribal Reservations in Minnesota where abuse is far too prevalent. With three programs under one roof, we ensure that these communities receive the specialized medical care that they deserve.
